Spoon carving workshop Sunday 13th April 2025 9.30 - 5pm
This course is for beginners and people with first carving experiences.
Minimum age is 18.
As there are so many different types, sizes and shapes of spoons, in this course we will concentrate on an eating spoon / table spoon – there are several shapes we can use as templates.
We will work in limewood, a soft wood.
You will leave with the skills and the knowledge needed to start carving your own handmade wooden spoon.
You will learn:
how to use axes and different knifes safely
how to sharpen your tools
about carving dry wood versus green wood
about useful, affordable tools and where to get them
finishing/ treatment with oil / bees wax salve
splitting, cutting, sanding – from the log to the spoon
if time permits, you can get started on another spoon or try a spatula
all tools and materials are provided
you`ll get the whole process of making, templates, information about equipment and some helpful drawings on pdf.
