Location: Botanical Gardens Inverness - Botanical Printing Full Day - Paper & Fabric - Sat 19th July - 9.30am - 5pm
Hosted at The Botanical Gardens Inverness as part of the Willow Sculpture Exhibition
The botanical printing process involves steaming the paper or fabric and leaves or flowers together. The resulting prints can be used for your own art, journaling or card & textile making projects.
No previous experience is needed and all materials are provided. The steaming process takes 2 hours. Whilst waiting for our paper and fabric to steam, we can create more patterns using the Hapazome technique - bashing the colour out of the leaf or flower onto prepared fabric.
If you’d like to bring leaves along from your own garden, please do- here is a little suggested list of those that we know can work well: Oak, Copper Beech, Hazel, Eucalyptus, Smoke Bush (Cotinus) Birch, Willow, Rose, Fruit bushes and fruit tree leaves, Fern, Maple and Strawberry leaves. Flowers: Hollyhock, Goldenrod, Weld, Dyer’s Chamomile, Dianthus, Dahlia, Dyer’s Coreopsis, Tagetes, Geranium, Violet and Golden Marguerite.
The paper needed is watercolour thickness. It will be provided, however, if you have pads of paper at home that could be used, please bring along.
